Third Reich Reinhard Heydrich Death Stamps – Item 109617
Scarce and unique single full sheet of 100 Heydrich Assassination commemorative stamps. Produced one year after the assassination of Heydrich the death mask stamps printed in the State of Prague and feature the death mask by the sculptor Prof F. Rotter. These were printed in the State Works in Prague. Unique to this sheet is the date mistake of 1842 instead of 1942. Probably why the sheet was never sold in enter circulation.
Note:
They were issued on 28 May 1943 to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the death of Reinhard Heydrich, Deputy Protector of Bohemia and Moravia.
Heydrich was attacked in Prague on 27 May 1942 by agents of the Czechoslovakian government in exile. He died of his wounds on 4 June 1942. The stamp depicts his death mask.
