Third Reich Plaque for Outstanding Achievement in Air District XI – Item 79204

Scarce Third Reich non-portable award for Outstanding Achievement. As awarded for internal air defence day and night fighter pilots and also awarded to ground observation units. Luft Gau XI was for the Hamburg area and this particular example measures 112mm x 141mm and has early droop tail Luftwaffe eagle and below this is engraved with the name of the recipient.Ai?? A similar example is shown on Page 194 of Orders, decorations and Medals of the Third Reich by David Littlejohn and Col C N Dodkins. Plaque retains much of its original bronzed finish.
