Super Rommel paperwork grouping. Group of 10 Items relating to Generalfeldmarshall Rommel collected by a female admirer of Rommels The group includes:

Mimeographed letter n the stationery of the Deutsches Afrikakorps with fine pencil signature of Rommel. 7 contemporary newspapers (German) following the career of Rommel and including those of his death in 1944. 1 newspaper cutting of Rommel receiving the oakleaves and 1 German photocard of Rommel in DAK uniform.

Mimeographed letter with the letter head of the “Deutsches Afrikakorps” to a female admirer, thanking her for her best wishes and apologising for this form of letter, a generalised format, due to the great number of good wishes and greetings from the Homeland, it is not possible for a personal letter. It continues on to outline the conditions faced in the Desert, the great heat, the cold at night, the eternal sand, the heaving fighting etc. It ends with a propaganda message to the homeland, that the Will of the Fuhrer will be carried out and the last enemy defeated. The letter bears a fine pencil signature of Rommel.

In the bottom left hand corner a pencil notation with date 17.7.41, the date the recipient received the letter ?

Mimeograph was  machine for duplicating using a typewritten stencil superceded by the photo copier.

To reverse a photocard of Rommel in Afrika Korps uniform and a newspaper clip of Rommel receiving his “oakleaves” to his Knights Cross from Hitler.

Rommel was the supreme commander of the Afrika Korps and a hero of Germany. Due to his connection with the bomb plot on Hitler he was offered the choice of suicide and his family would be safe. He was then given a state funeral leaving out the fact that he committed suicide. The eulogy given by General Field Marshal Von Rundstedt.
