Luftwaffe Presentation Bowl to Gen Field Marshal Ritter von Greim – Item 104709
Scarce large Alpaka silver presentation bowl awarded to General Field Marshal Robert Ritter von Greim. One side engraved with his name and the other side engraved with the dates of his various awards. Luftwaffe embossed eagles to each side. Bowl measures 24cm in diameter by 13cm in height. Probably presented by squadron on announcement of him becoming Field Marshall.
Note: Robert Ritter von Greim was a German field marshal and WWI Flying Ace. In April 1945, in the last days of WWII in Europe, Adolf Hitler appointed Greim Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe (German air force) after Herman Goring had been dismissed for treason. He is the last person ever promoted to field marshal in the German armed forces. After the surrender of Nazi Germany in May 1945, Greim was captured by the Allies. He committed suicide in an American-controlled prison on 24 May 1945.
