Imperial German Brunswick Regimental Standard – Item 97396

Large and Impressive Regimental Standard  for The State of Brunswick (Braunschweiger Landwehr Verband 1889). Blue rayon flag with highly detailed painted decoration of Brunswick skulls and crossbones to each corner and crowned white horse to the centre with scroll below, “mit got fur kaiser furt u vaterland” in gothic script. Double sided banner with same design. Mounted to the original wooden pole with brass mount having engraved crowned cipher and date 1889. Completing the banner are the original velvet rosette streamers with silvered badge for the Braunschweiger Landwehr Verband and smaller rosette with brass 25 to the centre. Good overall condition for age with colours remaining bright. Measurements, flag 112  x 112  cms approx, and pole 222 cms approx. A very impressive item which would make a great back drop to any Imperial German collection.
