British Home Front Ekco Fire Brigade Steel Helmet – Item 92810
Standard WWII British steel helmet complete with 90% of its original olive drab paint finish. Original Ekco Company decal to front of helmet. Comes complete with its original lining and elasticated chin strap. Lining dated 1940. A scarce company issue Home Front helmet worn by fire guards protecting the factory.
Note: Ekco was a Southend on Sea radion manufacturers during WWII and therefore due to war production it was important is was protected from the Air Raids. It was re-equipped to make wiring looms for aircraft such as the Avro Lancaster. In 1942, Ekco began production of its wireless set No 46 portable man-pack radio, and large numbers of these were made at the company’s Woking and Southend-on-Sea factories.
