Third Reich Rudolf Weiss – SS Police Leader Signed Document – Item 98078
Scarce recommendation for the Award of the German War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords. Awarded to a Luftschutz section leader and signed by SS Brigadefuhrer Rudolf Weiss. The recommendation for the award to the Luftschutz troop leader Fritz Ebers in Munster on night of 7/8 July 41 during an allied air raid for combating fires and incendiary bombs and the evacuation of residents. The three page documents bears two signatures of Rudolf Weiss. An interesting and rare signature.
Note: Rudolf Weiss was a German politician of the NSDAP and he was a member of the Reichstag and SS Police Leader. He was promoted to SS Brigadefuhrer in 1939. From April 1944 he was chief of police in Saarbrucken and in addition from 1944 was Chief of Police in Metz. After the allied advance to Metz he fled on 1.9.1944. For that reason he was transferred to the SS Special Unit in Dirlewanger. Two months later proceedings were initiated against him because of his misconduct but he fell in action in 1945 in combat operations in Liebeorose near Cottbus.
