Third Reich ID Book for Soviet Russian Volunteer – Item 96660

Scarce Kennbuch (Identity Book) for a Soviet Russian Auxiliary Volunteer. Issued 21.7.1943 to a 19 year old Nikolai Jakimzova by local command 936. These former Soviet Russian POWs were inducted in large numbers by units of Army Group Centre on the Eastern Front to fill manpower gaps in the support units. Although forbidden by Hitler to do so later they were armed and formed into units for anti partisan defence. Many of these troops when captured were slaughtered by the Russians by traitors and therefore these books are extremely rare to find nowadays.
