Rare and seldom found Private Purchase Royal Flying Corps aviators hard shell crash helmet. As used by air gunners for protection during combat. Similar example shown in the RAF museum Hendon and the Imperial War Museum London. Original brown finish with elasticated chinstrap and quilted silk lining. Size marked 58. Good overall condition for age. A hard piece of flying equipment to find.
