German Mountain Troops Trumpet Banner – Item 111778

German Army Mountain Infantry Battalion 232, Bischofswiesen (Jagerkaserne) post war Trumpet Banner for Berchtesgaden. Yellow chain stitched embroidery with embroidered Mountain Troops edelweiss to centre. Back with heavily embroidered Mountain Troops soldier wearing winter smock and ski cap. Marked “Reserve Hat Ruh”. Gold fringing to edges with three sides. An impressive trumpet banner to this famous Mountain troops unit. Measures 43 x 47cm approx. Excellent condition.

Note:  The Mountain Infantry Brigade 23 “Bavaria” (GebjgBrig 23) is a brigade of the Germany Army. It was set up in 1956, has around 5,300 soldiers, is subordinate to the Rapid Force Division and forms the core of the mountain troops.

The brigade carries out operations in a multinational context across the entire spectrum of intensity and is particularly capable of operating in the most difficult terrain and under extreme climatic and weather conditions. The mountains are a valuable training tool and are the basis and prerequisite for achieving and maintaining this special ability. The focus of operations is fighting in the mountains and high mountains  as well as in arctic terrain and the desert.
