Interesting full Army record of Feldwebel Willi Theis. Consisting of a large number of documents relating to his service throughout the war. Starting with his declaration that he is of full aryan blood, dated 4.12.1935. His Police reports stating that he had done two prison sentences for theft in 1932 and 33. He was recalled to colours in November 1939 where he served in the Western Campaign and awarded the Iron Cross. He then saw action on the Eastern Front where is was involved in anti partisan operations and was awarded the black wound badge, Infantry assault badge and saw action during the terrible winter of 41-42 where he showed great leadership skills and became a troop leader. He was again wounded on 3.1.1944 and received the wound badge in silver. He received the gold wound badge in 1944. He soldiered on and is recorded as having died of wounds on 8.10.1944. Although convicted of crimes in his civilian life his record throughout the army was one of exceptional service. A fantastic full grouping of document throughout his service in the army and unusual to find such a complete grouping. Makes fantastic reading and worthy of further research.
